It’s that time again for TGITDNMAR, which (obviously) stands for Thank God It’s The Day New Movies Are Released.
So, what’s the deal? Hollywood’s still afraid of The Hunger Games, some four weeks after its release? How else to explain this week’s slate of films? They are so off my radar, so bland and uninteresting as to not even warrant my derision. I might expect a slate like this the weekend after The Avengers comes out, but two weeks prior? I don’t get it. These films feel more like January or August releases. Let’s just move on as quickly as possible and pray that next week is better. Enjoy the week off.

You can’t say “Nice” without “Nic.” I like it.
Well, that was a no brainer.

Seriously. I wanted to go to the theater over the weekend but found nothing I wanted to see badly enough. (Though I’ve recently learned that I should see The Raid immediately.)

I know! This is a really odd weekend. It’s possible they’re expecting big things from Think Like a Man. I saw the trailer before Cabin in the Woods, and it does not look good. Maybe they think everyone is saving their money for Battleship next month.

Well, apparently they were right. I still can’t believe Think Like a Man made that much, but I guess I underestimate (or am just not really aware of) Kevin Hart’s popularity.
