Welcome to the very first edition of Double Feature Friday…season 2! The scores have been reset but the game remains the same, except for the fact that this season will run for sixteen weeks instead of twelve.
Most of you out there are veterans at this by now, but for those of you who don’t know how this thing works, the basic idea is thus: each week I name the new theatrical releases as well as a few other bonus picks of my choice. Your job is to comment with what other movie you’d like to screen in a double bill with the given films, and why.
You can pick any movie you want – recent, classic, whatever – just be sure get your answers in by Thursday June 7, so the judges have enough time to make their decision.
Sound simple? Then let’s get to it! Your films for this week are:
![]()
Snow White and the Huntsman

Piranha 3DD
![]()
A Cat in Paris

Bonus: 12 Angry Men
![]()
Bonus: Stripes
Time to sound off! Leave your most clever or creative pairings in the comment section below!

Snow White & The Huntsman | The Brothers Grimm
Piranha 3DD | Hobo With a Shotgun (visually overcharged films for the sake of doing it)
A Cat in Paris | Chico & Rita (animated Oscar films noone saw)
12 Angry Men | High & Low (ppl all discussing the life of another for a movie and ending up doing the right thing)
Stripes | The Blues Brothers (80s SNL stars gone awesome)

I saw Chico & Rita and loved it. I normally hate animated movies.
Same here! I’m not a huge fan of animated films, but Chico and Rita is pretty good.
Fair warning to you all: I’ve spent the Double Feature Friday off-season training hard.
SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN with the 1998 Cinderella revision, EVER AFTER
PIRANHA 3DD with JAWS 3D for some aqua-3D then and now
UNE VIE DE CHAT with some other cats roaming the greater Paris metro area, Disney’s THE ARISTOCATS
1957′s 12 ANGRY MEN with 1959′s ANATOMY OF A MURDER
and finally
STRIPES with MEATBALLS for a Vintage Bill Murray double-header

Snow White and the Huntsman and The Company of Wolves (two retelling of fairy tales + Snow White: A Tale of Terror or Mirror Mirror would just be too obvious!)
Piranha 3DD and Piranha Part Two: The Spawning (the sequel to the original and the sequel to the reboot + it’s a chance to see some early James Cameron)
A Cat in Paris and A Monster in Paris (Parisian set animation)
12 Angry Men and Runaway Jury (legal dramas focusing on the Jury)
Stripes and Private Benjamin (fish out of water army comedies)
Snow White and the Huntsman with Mirror Mirror (2 new Snow Whites)
Piranha 3DD with Big Fish (umm…fish?)
A Cat in Paris with Midnight in Paris (Paris)
12 Angry Men with To Kill A Mockingbird (prejudice and the law)
Stripes with Good Morning, Vietnam (humour in wartime)

SNOW WHITE & THE HUNTSMAN and SNOW WHITE & THE THREE STOOGES
A CAT IN PARIS and THAT DARN CAT (1965)
PIRANHA 3DD and HUMANOIDS FROM THE DEEP
12 ANGRY MEN and …AND JUSTICE FOR ALL
STRIPES and NO TIME FOR SERGEANTS
Snow White and the Huntsman – Beowulf (more folklore crap in the third dimension that craps all over the source material)
Piranha 3DD – Snakes on a Plane (girl gets bit in her fake tits by super snake. sounds like a match to me)
A Cat in Paris – An American Werewolf in London
12 Angry Men – Once Upon a Time in the West (just when you thought what a great guy Henry Fonda was)
Stripes – Full Metal jacket (best boot camp movies around, and the second halves both suck)
Snow White and the Huntsman with The Messenger- Joan of Arc reimagined (yesterday I would have picked something else, but now that I’ve seen it this pairing seems the most apt)
Piranha 3D with Devilfish- nature-made piranha vs. man-made piranha
A Cat in Paris with The Cat Returns- delightful animated adventures of spunky girls and magical cats
12 Angry Men with The Ox-Bow Incident- justice served, justice denied in Henry Fonda double feature
Stripes with in the Army Now- enlistment comedies

12 Angry Men – Runaway Jury — Two likable leading men with influence.
A Cat In Paris — Midnight In Paris — Two films that romantically encapsulate the City of Lights.
Stripes – Groundhog Day — Dead pan humor at its finest.

Hmm… Interesting game.
Snow White & Tim Burton’s Sleepy Hollow – Two darker retellings of old stories.
Piranha 3DD & Battleship – A movie that shouldn’t be in 3D next to a movie that should have been in 3D.
A Cat in Paris & Oliver & Company – Two animated adventure movies featuring thieves and cats.
12 Angry Men & The Dirty Dozen – 12 in one hand, a dozen in the other.
Stripes & Resident Evil – AKA S.T.A.R.S. & Stripes
Snow White and the Huntsman with Alice in Wonderland (2010): Showcases for the recent unfortunate trend to turn any old fantasy story into a cut-rate version of The Lord of the Rings.
Piranha 3DD with Horny House of Horror: Recent sexploitation/horror mash-ups.
A Cat in Paris with The Cat Piano: Animated, cat related Oscar contenders. (The Cat Piano was on the shortlist last year for best animated short.)
12 Angry Men with Two People (Dreyer): Locked room murder mysteries where the morality of peoples’ descisions becomes far more important than the “mystery”.
