IF I WAS POSTING MY MOST ANTICIPATED FILMS OF 2012…

Posted by

This would be towards the top….

And I doubt many of you have even heard of it.

Chronicle is a film that is getting the full Cloverfield treatment in that it’s got the hand-held camera effect because it’s supposed to be filmed by the characters in the film. They’re going to be talking to you the whole time (breaking the 4th wall and all) and then when all hell breaks loose, well, we’re just along for the ride. But before I talk about anymore, go ahead and click on that crumpled up car to go check out the first full-length trailer…

I love the use of of teenagers and super powers (I’ve heard that’s how comics usually start…) and the idea that they wouldn’t hide and be ashamed but start having fun with their new abilities. But of course it’s going to get a little out of hand and it seems like Andrew isn’t taking this whole thing so well. And so many questions arise from the trailer… What pisses off Andrew so much? Does the guy in the truck behind them driving know something about them (meaning it IS more of a secret)? Can Michael B. Jordan (another FNL alum getting some cinema love this year, along with Taylor Kitsch – John Carter and Battleship – Adrianne Palicki – G.I. Joe 2 – and Jesse Plemons – also Battleship) be in more movies please? And, most notably, what the hell is at the end of that cave, which presumably is what gives them these powers?

I’m telling you right now I’ll be among the first to find out!

What about you? Sound off below!

  • I saw this trailer pop up yesterday before a movie, and was fairly surprised it hadn’t come out yet. The initial trailer was released quite a while ago.

I’ll definitely be checking this out. It kind of scares me though, as it has a feeling about it that reminds me of “The Covenant”.

  • I’ve been excited for this one since the first time I saw the trailer a month or two back. It’s definitely on my Top 10 for 2012.

  • I actually meant to put this on my list and COULD NOT remember the title. I saw the trailer before PA3 and thought it looked great!!!

  • I actually almost put this on my “15 films I’m excited for” over at ACVF, but it just missed the cutoff. I like the basic conceit here, though I do find the whole “home movie/found footage” thing to be a bit tired, so it’s up to the filmmakers to make it fresh. Could be good; could be an MTV film. We’ll see!
