That is what should be posted on Craig’s List right about now… because the Academy Awards are in dire need of some new ones.
Click on Josh Duhamel’s mustache to check out the newly released trailer for the 84th Academy Awards, otherwise known as “When Billy Crystal Thankfully Came to Save the Day because Brett Ratner and Eddie Murphy were a TERRIBLE Idea”.
I am a little bit more excited for the movie-watcher’s Super Bowl because of Crystal’s involvement, but if this is our first glimpse into what the writers have in store for us, then you might have to count me out.
If it’s-a-bit-of-a-stretch-to-call-them-cameos-because-it’s-only-a-trailer-anyway from the great William Fichtner, Robin Williams (remember when he was funny?), Duhamel (the much less talented and less attractive twin brother of Timothy Olyphant), Megan Fox (who wants the odds on this being the last time she ever holds an Oscar?), and wait, is that Vinnie Jones (?!?!) is what counts as funny… well…
I am not sold by this trailer. But are you? Do you think this is what we can expect to see more of come February 26th? Is Billy going to be able to recapture his 90s greatness? And does the fact that this will be playing in theaters nationwide reek of desperation?
Sound off below…

Ha! I hadn’t seen that yet.
At this point, it looks like the likely nominees are going to be mostly nostalgia pieces, so I think that having Crystal as a nostalgic host will be fine. I do predict that he won’t be as wonderful as everyone remembers him being though, mostly because nostalgia isn’t what it used to be. So if they’re wise, they should already be thinking about what to do for next year, when several blockbusters have at least a chance at some recognition.
But of course, I’ll be watching either way!

Yeah, I’m with NTEMP above– if they’re going to nominate a bunch of nostalgia pieces, might as well go all the way. Can we have a Snow White opening number while we’re at it?

I don’t think I can bring myself to watch a trailer for the Oscars when the two people tasked with selling it to me (at least in this space) are Josh The Hamel and Megan Fox. I just can’t.
that’s a classic misdirect! nobody thinks ‘Oscar’ and ‘Megan Fox’ in the same sentences.
