I’ve already documented some of the marketing for the coming Edgar Allen Poe-themed mystery thriller The Raven. In this film John Cusack plays the heroin-fueled mystery writer, who must cooperate with the police in order to solve a series of murders that are being based off of his macabre tales. The poster and trailer have done a decent job of selling the idea and the mood so far, and to this duo we now add this TV spot, making a trifecta of surprisingly effective advertising.
Take a gander at the spot over at EW.com.
I can’t say I am excited for this film, per say, but I am not dreading seeing it. It could be a stylish, atmospheric piece of fun, or it could be a style-over-substance slog. Still, I am making this a year of optimistic movie viewing, so you can bet I’ll be there opening weekend.
What about you? Do you see yourself queueing up to see The Raven, or should I insert some kind of pun about you paying attention to this movie nevermore?
