Much has been made about the new Ridley Scott film, Prometheus, and whether or not it actually is a prequel to his science-fiction classic, Alien. And while the first – very awesome – teaser trailer (which I’ve graciously included for you at the bottom of this post) led some to attempt to conclude that it is undoubtedly so, Scott himself has said that “Prometheus is a new film, a new world, and is full of new ideas. And of course new monsters as well.”
Well now we have a new form of a trailer in the following viral video that it is on the internet now. In it, Guy Pearce, playing his character of Peter Weyland from the movie, discusses the history of discovery and future of his enterprises at a conference in the year 2023. Check it out:
I like the idea of viral marketing. It’s easily the most exciting kind… who doesn’t remember when we first got a glimpse of Heath Ledger’s Joker by everyone around the world removing the pixels from the grainy photo, ultimately revealing this:
And now we have more to look forward to with Prometheus (the film will be released in June). Hopefully we get more stuff like this leading up to its release… and hopefully the film lives up to all the hype that is being created by the secrecy of its creators (one of which, Damon Lindelof, is one of the main writers and co-creators of Lost… this guy knows a thing or two about secrets!).
But what about you? Are you as excited for Prometheus if it turns out to just be another science-fiction flick directed by Ridley Scott? Or does the allure of the Alien name get you all revved up for the possibilities of seeing that story begun?
You know what to do… sound off below!

Can’t wait for this one. Is it just me or is Guy channeling the great John Hurt’s voice in this piece? I just wish they didn’t feel they had to distance themselves from Alien.

This film had me feeling “meh” but the recent marketing has completely reversed my opinion.
And my excitement for this movie continues to grow.
