FIRST TRAILER FOR AFFLECK’S LATEST

by

I am a Ben Affleck fan. He is 2/2 in my book (2007′s way way way underrated Gone Baby Gone, which features one of my all-time favorite performances ever by Ben’s brother Casey, and 2010′s very entertaining The Town) and now we have a first glimpse of his most recent film, Argo. The film follows Affleck’s Tony Mendez, a CIA ‘exfiltration’ specialist who comes up with a risky plan to free six Americans during the height of the Iranian revolution. Following along is a fantastic supporting cast that includes two of TV’s best actors (“Breaking Bad”s Bryan Cranston and “Friday Night Lights” alum Kyle Chandler) along with the always reliable John Goodman and Alan Arkin. Throw in a few more familiar faces in Titus Welliver (The Man In Black for you fellow “Lost” fans), Tate Donovan (spent some time in “The O.C.” which is good by me), Victor Garber (“Alias” fans, get excited!), Michael Parks (first time we’ve seen him since his fantastic performance in Kevin Smith’s Red State) and even Richard Kind (probably not a big comedic role for the “Spin City” veteran) and I find myself wanting to pick up a ticket already. Check the trailer out here:

Looks pretty intense… and I love the Hollywood angle too. This should be a winner through and through. (Argo hits theaters October 12).

And here’s the poster….

What do you think? Is Affleck convincing you that he is going to be Clint Eastwood-esque and have a just-as-memorable directorial career?
