After posting the news on the casting, it just seemed right to follow that up with the trailer debut…
Trailers like this baffle me. The first minute and change are actually quite intriguing, with a fantastic song (“The Lightning Strike” by Snow Patrol) and some visually impressive action. And then it goes “funny” throwing in a couple of yuks to get you to remember that animated films are seemingly only made so that kids have movies to go see. And it’s not that I’m not down with the funny, it’s just that I feel like that could have come in a future trailer, you know, since this movie is some eleven months from being released! But either way, I’m casually interested at this point. It’s not a yes and it’s not a no. It’s more of a “sigh” then anything else.
Am I right about this? Do you like the jokes thrown into a visually exciting trailer or would you prefer them not jump back and forth between styles with their teasers?
