Sigh.

I am the last person that should be posting this, as I am not a fan in really any form of Paul Thomas Anderson, but either way, I know that many are. So here’s your second teaser trailer for The Master, the upcoming film from the previously mentioned writer-director:

I love both Hoffman and Phoenix and it looks like it’s going to be a brutal boxing match of acting performances from these two. Throw in Amy Adams and normally there would be no question about whether or not I would check it out. But the two things that drive me crazy about this trailer are the music (famously scored by Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood) and the writing. Greenwood’s score is grating, just like it was in There Will Be Blood. I know I’m in the minority on that train of thought, but I just cannot pay attention to what the people are saying (which turns out to just be okay anyway) when there’s a triangle dinging every 4.5 seconds… And then everything they’re saying, it’s just so… contrived. I don’t know. Maybe I just don’t “get” PTA. I doubt I’m the only one…
