There is a long list of movies that either have sequels (let’s say, Johnny English or Hoodwinked) or are getting sequels (Raging Bull… yes, it’s true) that truly no one asked for and it’s close to shocking at times when some movies get a second film. I would argue that 2008′s surprisingly successful action flick, Taken, is another one of those movies. Don’t get me wrong, I love Taken. I think it’s easily one of the most re-watchable action movies of the past 5 years and it solidified Liam Neeson as a bona fide action star. But when the movie ended, I’m not so sure that there was room for more story to be told..

I guess I was wrong.

I gotta admit, I dig the revenge angle. We always see these henchmen get their due (and many certainly did in the first film) but I doubt I’ve ever considered how it would impact their home lives! Well it looks like Liam hurt some people’s feelings and it looks like Maggie Grace and Famke Janssen are in the way yet again. There is a new director for this one, but Luc Besson is back as co-writer on the screenplay, so you can bet that we are going to see Liam kill some people in some awesome ways again. As much as I don’t think the first film warranted a sequel, you can safely bet that I will be there to see what happens this time around.
