In his much-anticipated follow-up to District 9, Neill Blomkamp will be releasing Elysium on us March 1 of next year. Here is the first image from the film, showing a hair-less Matt Damon ready for action.
The film co-stars Jodie Foster (an always reliable actress) and Sharlto Copley (District 9‘s intense protagonist) and has been described as follows:
“In the year 2159 two classes of people exist: the very wealthy who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Rhodes (Foster), a hard line government official will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. That doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky Max (Damon) is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds.”
I was a pretty big fan of District 9 and I’m definitely looking forward to seeing how this one plays out. What about you? Do you see any similarity between his first feature and the plot summary to his newest one? Because there are some noticeable ones in my opinion…
