Tom Clancy’s most famous character, Jack Ryan, is being restarted with none other than the new Captain Kirk taking over from the likes of Harrison Ford, Alec Baldwin, and Ben Affleck. The last time that Ryan was on-screen was in 2002′s The Sum of All Fears, so it’s certainly been awhile and a fresh take should be a welcome sight in theaters. Kenneth Branagh is the director, as well as the villain, and Keira Knightley is playing Chris Pine’s love interest in the film.
The first two images from the set are out on the internet, the first showing Pine riding the crotch rocket and the second showing Pine with Kevin Costner, who plays a mentor of sorts to the young Jack Ryan.
The brief plot summary says that Jack Ryan segues from the Marine Corps to a position as a financial consultant for a Russian billionaire, where he’s framed in a terrorist plot and forced to go on the run.
Here are the images:
What’s your interest level? With the cast and crew attached, I’m definitely interested. Jack Ryan hits theaters December 25, 2013.

I first heard about this movie on twitter and it just mentioned Kevin Costner joining the project, my first thought was that, that could work! I wrongly thought it meant Costner playing Ryan. I’m not convinced we need another reboot but Kenneth Branagh’s presence does reassure me a little. Alec Baldwin is still my favourite Jack Ryan

I’m a fan of Clancy’s Jack Ryan books and I’ve enjoyed all of the movies. My biggest disappointment is that Ford was the only one who was in more than one film as Ryan.
I don’t really see Pine as Ryan, but I can understand why they went for someone younger. I’m sure they’re trying to work more with an origin so that they can do a couple of flicks. Branagh being attached really boosts my interest though.
