The first of three, yes three, Hobbit movies is due out in theaters this December and all we’ve gotten in terms of footage is a teaser that included not much more than dwarves singing.

Until now.

The first real trailer with some solid footage has finally been put on the internet and it’s now here for your viewing pleasure. Check it out below:

Ok, so, I can’t be alone in this. But after watching this, my initial thought was, quite simpy, uh-oh.

Look, I get the grandeur and the excitement and the fact that this is a prequel to what many argue is one of the best trilogies of all-time. But that is not a good trailer and it’s going downhill already BEFORE the final clip which is like something out of a kids animated film. The trailer see-saws between amazing special effects (scenery, mostly) to what appears to be very Twilight-looking creatures running around the forest. And please tell me that wasn’t giant rabbits pulling Gandalf in a sled…

I figure to see this in theaters just for the epic nature of the film, but if I miss out on it and have to wait until DVD, I think I’ll be okay. And I’m not so sure that I’m alone in this…

  • Well, I just want to be all excited about this.
Of course, I understand that you’re not but hey, it’s The Hobbit! I don’t care if the trailer’s not perfect – who remembers the trailer of The Lord of the Rings?
