Coming off a rave viewing at the Toronto Film Festival, the movie Silver Linings Playbook, starring Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence, it now gets prime trailer position here at Man I Love Films. The drama, directed by David O. Russell, centers on Cooper, struggling with anger issues and Lawrence, who is depressed, and both are going through therapy. They find common ground and spark up a romance. While the synopsis did little to interest me (I’ll post it below, but I summed it up well I think) the trailer works a bit better than I’d expected. Check it out below:
Not bad. Did you know Bradley Cooper could act? I had no idea!
In all seriousness, this looks like a nice follow-up to The Fighter for Russell and you might see this mentioned come Oscar time.
♥♥♥1/2
Again, here’s the full synopsis as promised:
“Against doctor’s orders, Pat (Bradley Cooper) a former high school teacher who was committed after a violent incident with his estranged wife, is bailed out the mental hospital by his mother Dolores (Jacki Weaver). She brings him home to stay with her and his father, Pat Sr., (Robert De Niro) who’s recently lost his job, and is making ends meet as a bookie. Determined to win back his wife, Pat embarks on a campaign of self-improvement, but is distracted by his young neighbour Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence)- a self-destructive young widow with a passion for ballroom dancing, who’s fixated on him”

I think this looks just about perfect, for a non-rom-com rom-com.

I love Jennifer Lawrence. So, basically, I’m seeing this.
