Seth Macfarlane.
Hot off the success of Ted, the Oscar telecast will be brought to you by the guy who voices Peter Griffin. Whoda thunk!
After last year’s revival of the Billy Crystal era, the producers for the awards show have skewed much younger with this decision, which should bode well for the ratings performance.
“We are thrilled to have Seth MacFarlane host the Oscars. His performing skills blend perfectly with our ideas for making the show entertaining and fresh,” said Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, the producers. “He will be the consummate host, and we are so happy to be working with him.”
Macfarlane added, “”It’s truly an overwhelming privilege to be asked to host the Oscars. My thoughts upon hearing the news were, one, I will do my utmost to live up to the high standards set forth by my predecessors; and two, I hope they don’t find out I hosted the Charlie Sheen Roast.”
This guy has been riding an insane high of success lately and this just might be the next step towards super stardom…
What do you think about the choice? I mean, you can’t knock the idea at least, because the Academy needs to aim for a younger crowd, to be sure!

I think it’ll be an improvement on Crystal.
I never skip the Oscar telecast, but I detest Family Guy. This decision makes me glad I have DVR; I might need it to fast-forward through MacFarlane’s “jokes.”
