Chronicle writer Max Landis is turning into something of a hot commodity. After writing such a winning flick like Chronicle (highly underrated in my opinion) he took on Good Time Gang, an action comedy starring Mark Wahlberg and Jonah Hill that’s in pre-production right now. After that, his next film is looking like it’s going to be his take on the classic tale of “Frankenstein,” which he has said is “the best thing I’ve written.” Well okay then…
A good start to making things interesting here would be if Daniel Radcliffe AKA Harry Potter was cast as Igor, the famous sidekick to the evil Dr. Frankenstein. In Landis’ version, Igor is much more prominent, though, as he says “I began to pick apart our knowledge of Frankenstein and discovered that the public’s idea of this myth comes from a million different places. I became committed to recontextualizing it all so it all worked in one story. By the end of the day, yeah it’s a period piece, yes it’s from Igor’s perspective, but man it’s cool.”
Radcliffe is said to be in final negotiations to take on the role, which is said to be “pathologically dirty and dressed in old clowns clothing.”
How’s that for a follow-up to Harry Potter?!?
I personally would love to see Radcliffe take on edgier material as he moves away from the series that put him on the map. He currently has two films in post-production, both of which are not child-like in any way whatsoever. Good on him for that!
