Normally this would be the type of story that I would probably pass over and not write about because it’s not really big news in the world of film news.
But I have something to say about it. So here we go:
Seth Anders, most famous (if you can call it that) for directing such masterpieces as That’s My Boy and Sex Drive has been handed the keys to the sequel of the very successful and VERY funny Horrible Bosses. The director of the first film, Seth Gordon, recently left the director’s chair for reasons unknown to those of us outside of the film’s production.
HERE’S where the opinion part comes in.
YOU DON’T HAVE TO MAKE THIS MOVIE!!!
The first film was near-genius. It was a bit of a surprise hit in 2011 and featured fantastically funny performances from all the leads, including Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis, and Charlie Day, all of whom are signed for the sequel. NOW, what exactly is the sequel going to be about? Only two of the three bosses are still alive, one of which is in prison, and the other has been “defeated” enough that it’s unlikely she would pose a huge problem in the future. And Jamie Foxx is apparently set to reprise his role as well, which makes even less sense, because WHY DO THEY WANT TO TRY TO KILL THEIR BOSSES AGAIN?!?!
Am I the only one who thinks this film is going to be terrible and that maybe why Gordon left the film is because he too saw its unnecessary nature. He doesn’t even have anything lined up right now! There has to be a reason for that…
Anyway, another in the long line of unnecessary sequels to really enjoyable comedies that only serve to make the original look that much more amazing (I’m looking at you Hangover!)…
