If you’ve never seen/heard the comedy of Mike Birbiglia then you are doing yourself a disservice. A mainstay on the hit public radio show This American Life, Birbiglia tells autobiographical stories that tie into common human anxieties and are both touching and funny.
Well, it was only a matter of time before Birbiglia went the same route as Louie C.K. and got to turn his routines and thoughts into a visual narrative. Luckily for us, much like Louie C.K., Birbiglia seems to have made something fantastically funny and meaningful. The trailer for Birbiglia’s Sleepwalk With Me is a fantastic showcase of Birbiglia’s comedic sensibilities, and seems like it could be a surprisingly smart and touching examination of modern relationships and lives.

Sweet. Can’t wait for this. Also excited that Marc Maron is in it.

Saw this at IFFBoston. It’s solid. It’s really more of an examination of Birbiglia’s character than anything else (which means it’s an examination of Birbiglia), and at one point it loses its spine in a way I found really, really grating. But it’s still pretty darn good.
