HEATHER’S TOP TEN ICONIC MOVIE HAIRSTYLES

by

Movies over time have blessed us with the good and the bad of hair styles.  This list is dedicated to not either or, but to those that are probably the most memorable.  The good, the bad, and the……………….peculiar.  And while I adore my handsome androgynous Goblin King, he didn’t make the top ten.  Be sure to share any that I’ve missed or ones that you prefer.

10. JAMES DEAN IN REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE

9.  JOHNNY DEPP IN EDWARD SCISSORHANDS

8. DEMI MOORE IN G.I. JANE

7. PAM GRIER IN FOXY BROWN

6. AUDREY HEPBURN IN BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY’S

5. UMA THURMAN IN PULP FICTION

4. MIA FARROW IN ROSEMARY’S BABY

3. LIZ TAYLOR IN CLEOPATRA

2. ROBERT DENIRO IN TAXI DRIVER

1. CARRIE FISHER IN STAR WARS: A NEW HOPE

HONORABLE MENTION:  Nic Cage in all of his wig wearing roles.

Remember, we here at Man, I Love Films don’t do definitive lists. We do our favorites and we want to hear yours. So, make sure and tell us about them in the comments section below.

  • Love the mention of Cage :)
Farrow’s is very influential, that’s for sure. For me the most memorable is probably Edward Scissorhands.

    • I feel like Farrow’s had a huge influence on the modeling industry too. But since then you see plenty of women sporting that pixie style, Winona Ryder the most prevalent example I can think of.

      • The most current and news-worthy would be Emma Watson, who cut off her Hermione-hair for the pixie cut and made all the front pages for it.

  • I think maybe Natalie Portman in V For Vendetta should have tied with G.I. Jane. :P

    • I was debating that and even Sigourney’s bald do for Alien 3, but the part where Demi shaves her head in that flick is a moment in cinema that I don’t think many people forget especially when taking her career into consideration. It took some kahunas.

  • And for the record I’ve considered chopping the rest of my hair off and going full Mia Wallace. :-) Add the corny jokes, minus the cocaine issues.

  • Pam Grier is definitely my favorite on that list.

  • Great stuff Heather. I suppose Ripley in Alien 3 could rival Demi Moore for the shaved look.

    • I figured Kai, amongst others would give me a hard time for involving Ripley yet again. ;-)

  • Great list, I would also include Javier Bardem’s bowl-cut in No Country For Old Men.
